NEEDLE FELTED ACCESSORIES
Workshop Outline:
This workshop is a contemporary adaptation of an ancient technique for producing non-woven textiles. Students will explore the endless possibilities in using felting needles as a means to sculpt wool into three-dimensional forms and will learn to use a drum carder to create fibre blends and batts of wool for their projects. An introductory session on Nuno (wet) felting will create a light-weight, textile base to use in conjunction with needle felting. Projects will include a variety of fine art fashion accessories: wearable head pieces, collars, cuffs, bracelets and other jewelry items. Students will sample techniques that will inspire their imagination to create a whole new realm of accessories.
