Basketry | July 07 - 08, 2012 | Joan Carrigan | $185 + $45 course supplies
Workshop Outline:

Tree barks provide one of nature’s most beautiful basket materials. Students will begin with a hands-on discussion covering the harvesting and preparation of cedar and willow bark. Over the course of the weekend participants will explore several types of weaving techniques in the form of flat pouches. Variations of diagonal plaiting, regular plaiting and twining will be covered using red and yellow cedar bark, as well as a variety of willow barks. There will be time to make several projects. Sample baskets will be provided, however, participants will be encouraged to create their own unique designs.
