Important Information
Please note: The campus is hilly and many buildings are accessible only by foot paths and, in some cases, by stairway.
Insurance:
All students must have valid medical insurance. We also strongly encourage all students to purchase travel/cancellation insurance as courses can be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
Arrival and Departure:
Students staying on campus should plan to arrive and register between 3pm and 5pm on Sunday (July 1 or July 8). Welcome dinners and orientation for both resident and day students will be held at 5:30pm (July 1 and 8). These dinners are included in the cost of accommodation. Day students may purchase tickets through the MISSA office.
Day students should arrive with enough time to complete registration before classes begin at 9am.
Residential students should plan to check out by noon, Saturday, July 7 or 14, 2011.
Off campus accommodation:
There are a number of B&Bs and RV resorts near the College. Contact the office for a listing of accommodation options in the area.
Course Times:
All courses run from 9 am to 4pm, daily. Timetables may vary with individual instructors. Studio areas are open from 8am to 11pm daily.
Course Supplies:
Each course at MISSA requires supplies that the student must provide. Course supply lists are available in pdf format with the course information on the website.
Special events:
Friday, July 6, 2012: MISSA’s annual Celebration of the Arts evening.
We are pleased to announce that Valdy will be named MISSA’s 2012 Ambassador of the Arts at the dinner. To highlight this, the theme of the party is “IF MUSIC BE THE FOOD OF LIFE, PLAY ON”. For the annual costume parade and prizes please create your costumes on any aspect of music you can imagine.
At 8pm following the dinner / celebration, esteemed musicians Valdy and Karel Roessingh will perform a special concert in the Max Bell auditorium. This will be a rare opportunity to enjoy two of Canada’s finest musicians at a very reasonable ticket price. A portion of the proceeds will be generously donated to MISSA.

Cell and Internet access:
Cell phone reception at the College is very limited. Computer terminals and WiFi are available at the Library.
Public phones:
There are phones for local calls only in the lobby of each student residence. As well as two pay phones (in the Academic Building & at the entrance to the lower parking lot).
Phone messages:
Phone messages from parties off campus can be left for MISSA students at 250-391-2411. The messages are posted on the Dining Hall bulletin board.
Mail:
Outgoing mail can be left in the mail box in the Dining Hall. Stamps may be purchased at the registration desk.
Parking:
Parking is limited to the lower parking area and adjacent tennis courts. Belongings may be dropped off behind the cafeteria and wheelbarrows are available for moving items to accommodation and studios.
Recreation:
Bring your walking shoes, binoculars, kayak, bike, yoga mat!
Enjoy yoga or quiet contemplation in the Spiritual Centre.
Swim in the campus pool or workout in the gym (7:30am to 8:30pm during MISSA). Pool towels are not provided.
Walk on the forest trails on campus or to nearby Weirs Beach.
Or cycle or walk on the Galloping Goose Trail . www.gallopinggoosetrail.com
Kayak in protected Pedder Bay.
Please always swim, kayak and hike with a buddy.
Pets:
No pets are allowed on campus.
Smoking:
Smoking is permitted in the designated smoking area beside the cafeteria only .
