Campus & Facilities

MISSA takes place on the campus of Lester B. Pearson College of The Pacific, located on the Pacific Ocean at Pedder Bay, 29 km west of the city of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Clustered on the wooded hillside shores of Pedder Bay, the simple cedar buildings on the College campus provide an ideal environment for the purpose, aims, and philosophy of the institution.  During the school year, Pearson College hosts 200 International Baccalaureate students from around the world.  A detailed view of the campus is available at http://pearsoncollege.ca/campus_map.

The campus has a swimming pool and gym that are available for student use during MISSA from 7:30am to 8:30 pm. Pool towels are not provided.

There are phones in all residences for local calls only.  Pay phones are located on the second floor of the Academic Building above the Little Lecture Theatre and in the Lounge.  During MISSA you can receive messages at 250-391-2411.  Messages will be posted on the Dining Hall bulletin board.  Outgoing mail can be left in the mail box in the Dining Hall.  Stamps may be purchased at the sales desk. There is very limited email access.

Since Pearson College was designed with academics in mind, its facilities are not ideally suited to artistic endeavours. We do the best we can with the challenge of meeting each course’s needs and we hope that students are adaptable to these challenges.  Most of the campus is accessible only by foot and, in some cases, by stairway.
