Metchosin
International Summer School of the Arts (MISSA) is a non-profit
organization dedicated to providing specialized courses for adult
professional artists, serious adult students and teachers. Course
offerings generally include ceramics, painting, sculpture, printmaking,
photography, writing, music, metal, residency as well as other media. 2010 marks the twenty-sixth session of MISSA.
The
school takes place on the campus of Lester B.
Pearson College,
one of the famous United World Colleges. The college is set in an area of
extraordinary beauty on a wooded hillside of the Pedder Bay Inlet.
Although somewhat isolated, this special environment is conducive to
creativity and to the intense development of the arts.

In
developing this school, we encourage greater understanding of the arts in
general as well as personal growth in the specific areas of study. To
create a rounded experience, cross-media programs are held in the
evenings with lectures and demonstrations. Students are encouraged to
bring slides of their work to share with other students and faculty.
Residency is recommended.
MISSA faculty will present a series of special evening programs dealing with various aspects of their work, from their philosophy to methodology. Open to the public, admission is by donation. All lectures will be held in the Max Bell Auditorium, McConnell Theatre, of Lester B. Pearson College, 650 Pearson College Drive, Victoria, BC beginning at 7:30pm.
MISSA's main program takes place
during the first two weeks of July. Registrations are accepted after
January 25. Friends of MISSA may register after January 11. MISSA 2010
will run from July 4 – July 17.
